The End is Near...
Greetings from Dakar, Senegal...
Two years...
It is hard to believe that we are approaching two years since leaving everything behind and jumping onboard with Mercy Ships. While these two years have had many ups and downs, our time with Mercy Ships in Texas and onboard the Africa Mercy has been an unforgettable experience. As this field service comes to a close and the Africa Mercy looks ahead to a year of shipyard for maintenance and updates, it is time for the Scace family to make the transition back to our great country, the United States.
Two weeks...
We are two weeks away from the end of this field service. It has been amazing to be a part of life changing surgeries for hundreds of Senegalese. More than that, though, we are honored to be with an organization that has not only brought healing to these patients, but also hope. The hope that has been given to them is not just for this world (community, acceptance, ability to work/provide, etc), but for eternity. The Gospel has been offered to these patients and caregivers throughout their entire journey.
For these reasons, and many others, we are honored that Jeff has been offered a full-time position with Mercy Ships when we move back to the US. Jeff will be assuming the role of Global Security Director for Mercy Ships after the new year.
In less than a month, we will be sailing from Dakar, Senegal, back to the Canary Islands to meet our sister ship, the Global Mercy. Shortly after that, we will be moving back to the US. We have many hard goodbyes on the horizon, as well as, an international move and starting over upon our return. We will continue to provide blog updates until we are settled back into our new life stateside. Please pray for the big transition we have ahead of us.
Prayer Requests...
We are so grateful for each of you who continue to support us in prayer.
--Pray that the hospital can finish strong and remain COVID free for this final stretch.
--Pray for a safe sail to Tenerife.
--Pray for peace and comfort as we move into this big transition.
Support us...
Thank you to all who have written cards, sent packages, and kept in touch over this time. We do not recommend sending anymore physical mail, as we don't know if it will arrive before we leave.
