In the Waiting...

Greetings from Florida...

It’s hard to believe that it has been over a month since we have updated our blog.  We left the wintery tundra of Lindale, TX, and headed for some warmer weather in South Florida.  Thanks to the kindness and generosity of our family we have been staying here since we left Lindale (Thank you, Aunt Kathy and Aunt Rosemarie).  

Change of Plans...

We had initially planned on coming here for a few weeks of rest and relaxation.  However, after we arrived here, we found out that our initial anticipated departure date for the ship was no longer possible.  The ship is still docked in the Canary Islands, Spain.  Spain has travel restrictions in place prohibiting Americans from traveling into the country.  

Mercy Ships is busy preparing a place for us to live on their Texas campus while we wait out these travel restrictions, or until the ship sails back to Africa to begin its field service.  While they are preparing a place for us, we were able to extend our stay in South Florida.

He's in the Waiting...

Though we wish all of our travels had gone as planned, we are grateful for this time we have had together as a family.  We are looking forward to the next chapter of our service with Mercy Ships back at the International Support Center in Lindale, TX, even if it is not where we had expected it would be.  We know that God is in control and his plans are good.  Prior to leaving Lindale, we had a meeting with one of the Mercy Ships chaplains who shared a beautiful worship song with us, “Take Courage” by Kristene DiMarco.  In my opinion, the song should be called, “He’s in the Waiting”, as it reiterates this over and over again.  Where is God in this season of our lives?  He’s in the waiting.  Another line says, “Do not forget His great faithfulness He'll finish all He's begun.”  We believe this, we are holding on to this, and we are grateful He is with us in the waiting.

Prayer requests...

We would be so grateful for your prayers in this waiting season:
-Pray that God will open up travel to Spain and/or the ship will be able to make its way back to Africa.
-Pray that God will encourage those who are on the ship and unable to get off due to Spain’s travel restrictions.
-Pray for the Global Mercy.  Mercy Ships newest ship that will be coming into service later this year.
